Vacancy: Project Engineer – Civil Engineering (Freelance/Contract)

About the Role:
Our client is currently seeking a skilled Civil Project Engineer to support various technical infrastructure projects within a large-scale industrial environment. You will work as part of the Project & Engineering department, which oversees complex development and sustainability initiatives across the site.
This position focuses on delivering civil engineering expertise for both renovation and new construction projects. You will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle—from conceptual design to execution—ensuring technical quality, budgeting, and scheduling within your field of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the civil engineering expert within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Develop and document technical requirements and specifications.
• Provide input for project and investment proposals, particularly in relation to civil structures.
• Outsource and oversee design work, evaluate contractor offers, and manage technical assessments.
• Review civil and structural designs and calculations (concrete and steel), ensuring compliance and quality.
• Coordinate contractors during execution, including acceptance and post-project support.
• Advise on and implement technical innovations to improve project efficiency and sustainability.

Your Profile:

• Bachelor’s degree (HBO) or higher in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Project Engineer in civil/structural works, or a strong ambition to grow into this role.
• Broad knowledge of civil engineering standards and methodologies.
• Strong analytical skills for evaluating designs and technical calculations.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities.
• Proactive, critical mindset with the ability to build consensus for technical decisions.

• Reducing environmental impact through innovations targeting noise, odor, nitrogen, and particulate matter emissions.

Additional Information:

• Role falls under a specific salary scale in accordance with the client’s collective labor agreement.
• Candidates are expected to be local to the Netherlands for this position
