Component Engineering Specialist (Supplier Quality Engineer)

Responsibilities:
•Review, recommend and approve components used in product design and setup in Team Centre.
•Review and assist to define drawing CTQ’s, GD&T, gauging and inspection requirements with R&D and supplier to minimize the risks and ensure of inspect-ability and compliance.
•Assist in Supplier selection and new supplier qualification processes.
•Coordinate Supplier Quality Management, Supplier Audits and Supplier Quality Evaluation periodically.
•Create, review, and approve Quality Requirements, First Article and Quality Assurance Agreements with suppliers.
•Collaborate with internal teams (R&D, procurement) to launch new parts or implement engineering changes at suppliers.
•Work with suppliers to conduct capability review and qualify the parts, implement effective control plans and to improve quality of products and manufacturing processes.
•Coordinate all NCRs, 8D’s and SCAR’s for investigation, failure root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions of parts quality issues at suppliers.
•Work with Manufacturing to solve in-house quality concerns, reviews of NC parts and to recommend dispositions promptly.
•Identify areas for process and product improvements at key suppliers and coordinate related projects

Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, i.e., Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Technology, metallurgy, Quality Engineering (CQE), or equivalent work-related experience in the Quality or related field.
•Minimum of 3 years related experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with knowledge or background in Engineering Mechanical Processes, casting, injection molding, CNC machining, assembly, sheet metal, fabrication, weldments, and welding processes is an asset.
•Sound knowledge of GD&T applications, and understanding & interpreting of standard drawing practices, and specifications
•Prior experience in areas of Lean, Six Sigma or Quality Engineering such as: Control Plan, FMEA, SPC, RCA, process control systems, tests & DOE, MSA, metrology and measurement is an asset.
•Hands-on inspection experience and ability to use basic inspection tools and equipment e.g. calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc. Knowledge of CMM applications is an asset.
•Advanced skills in Microsoft software packages (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
•Strong insight into technological problems
•Knowledge of MRP systems ie SAP or similar
•Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and good interpersonal skills to work with internal and external multifunctional team.
•Proven team player with experience leading and working in cross-functional teams.
•Previous experience working with part suppliers would be an asset.
•Team Centre experience would be an asset.
