NES Fircroft are delighted to be partnering with a Construction industry giant on their Energy Transition journey, supporting the development of a Clean Energy project in Wales.
The client are looking for an experienced Construction Manager to join the project on a contract basis to work Monday to Friday on site full time 5 days per week. In return candidates will be offered strong day rates of pay and the chance to work on a flagship client project progressing the UK's journey to a cleaner energy industry.
Position Description
The Construction Manager (CM) will be responsible the construction phase of the Project. The CM will be responsible for all activities at the Site including those of the EPCM Contractor and all Works Package Contractors and suppliers. The CM will provide leadership to the Project to monitor the progress and performance of works on site to ensure that it is completed safely, on time and within budget whilst achieving the correct level of quality. The Construction Manager will also be responsible for:
Accountabilities
The CM position will involve daily interaction with the other members of the Project team located at site.
The role carries no expenditure authority or approval authority except as may be delegated from time to time by the CCS Project Manager and confirmed in writing.
Experience required
The Construction Manager will have at least 15 years relevant experience in management of large capital work Projects in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical or energy sectors.
Specific Experience might include:
• Experience in high value, EPC/EPCM construction projects
• Experience leading a construction team on major Projects
• Thorough working knowledge of and experience in construction management principles and practices
• Establishment of onshore construction site requirements.
• Construction kick off with Sub-Contractors.
• Support on site construction activities Championing Safety.
• Support construction activities through completion, testing and ready for start-up.
• Overseeing projects through commissioning and start up and hand over to operations.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and team working through behaviour & influence.
• Demonstrated strong listening and communication skills with high energy and commitment.
• A “can do” attitude and ability to perform in difficult situations
• Strong teamwork skills.

- Delivering the safety and quality goals for the project
- Completing and reviewing constructability studies
- Establishing site policies, procedures and site administration
- Ensuring that safety programmes are in place that meet requirements of Heidelberg Materials including all project policies and regulations
- Overseeing of the construction activities to ensure compliance with the drawings, specifications, and quality standards of the Project
- Reviewing of the construction performance
- Advising on the works in accordance with Schedule and takes immediate action to mitigate delay.
- Preparing plans for site activities
- Preparing regular progress reports for all construction related activities
- Preparing as built drawings and construction records
- The interface with all construction-based 3rd parties
Accountabilities
- To ensure that the HSSE controls are constantly and continually adhered to across the Project by all persons engaged in the Project, both within the Heidelberg Materials project management team, EPCM Contractor and Works Package Contractors, suppliers or any other company or individuals employed on the site.
- To work alongside the EPCM construction management team
- To develop and implement the construction management plan
- To collaborate with a multi-disciplinary construction management team to manage and control the EPCM Contractor and all works package contractors and suppliers on all construction matters.
