Job Overview:

The Competent Person for Lifting Operations Superintendent requires an in depth understanding of lift planning and execution on congested construction sites. The Competent Person for Lifting Operations Superintendent must leverage extensive industry experience to enhance safety, productivity, mentor others and resolve multifaceted technical, operational, and organizational issues that affect project delivery and success.

Responsibilities:
  • Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Act as Competent Person for Lifting operations on site.
  • Oversee all project lifting operations completed by subcontractors
  • Coordinate and work with subcontractors to develop lifting plans and relevant documentation.
  • Review and approve submitted lifting plans
  • Analyze and resolve work problems and or assist subcontractors in solving daily work problems
  • Confer with other supervisors & Subcontractors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Evaluate rigging service execution for compliance to contract, design data, schedule, cost budgets, and quality, advising the project team of status, issues, impacts, risk, and cost influence factors on “to go” scope.
  • Ensure that company objectives, policies, programs, and procedures are consistently adhered to.
  • Follow Industry Standards and Norms while conducting all work scopes.
  • Ensure the maintenance plan for all departmental equipment is followed.

  • Responsible for advising subcontractors on the safe working of lifting operations.
  • Has the Obligation to stop any work that is deemed to be incorrect or dangerous
Essential Qualifications and Education:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, & trade school and or Craft Apprentice Program.
  • 10 to 15 years of experience within the Heavy Industry through all phases of construction project delivery and at least five (5) years of experience in a supervision role.
  • Knowledge of European guidelines and requirements as they pertain to rigging, lifting.
  • Have certification to demonstrate a competent person for lifting operations
  • In-depth experience in all facets of rigging & transport with extensive knowledge of rigging by mechanized means and/or manual equipment.
  • Ability to work as a team member as well as a team leader, to lead by example.
  • Have wide experience with technical activities
  • Time management and organization skills with strong attention to detail/follow-up.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft programs:  Word, Excel.
  • Self-motivated, self-reliant, and able to operate independently, while exercising good independent judgment and decision-making.
  • Ability to work with Engineering to develop the Right Plan for ALL Lifting scenarios.
  • Ability to set up, coordinate, and control multi-crane lifts.
  • Ability to understand detailed engineering/fabrication drawings
