Our client, a Tier One Mining leader, is investing heavily in data-driven innovation across their processing operations. This is a 12 month contract based in Perth, W.A. The team is looking for a conventional Data Scientist who’s passionate about building production-ready models and solving real-world problems in complex environments.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work on high-impact projects, collaborate with domain experts, and bring cutting-edge ML solutions to life in live operational settings. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Model Development: Design, experiment, build, and deploy machine learning models using Python and Amazon SageMaker. Your solutions will be aligned with business needs and ready for production. Kedro experience is a bonus!
  • Data Engineering: Build and maintain robust data pipelines for ingestion, preprocessing, and feature engineering using AWS services like S3 and Lambda.
  • Problem Framing: Work closely with product owners and mining experts to translate operational challenges into clear data science problem statements with measurable success criteria.
  • MLOps Excellence: Apply best practices in MLOps including automated retraining, performance drift monitoring, and CI/CD workflows. Git proficiency is essential; MLflow exposure is a plus.
  • Insight Generation: Conduct data analysis and experimentation to uncover insights, validate hypotheses, and optimise models for operational efficiency.
  • Production Support: Collaborate with engineers and analysts to support models in production, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve performance in live mineral processing environments.

  • Familiarity with Kedro and AWS services (S3, Lambda, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of MLOps workflows and tools (Git, CI/CD, MLflow).
  • Experience in data analysis, experimentation, and model optimisation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and operational teams.
