Design Manager

Senior Design Manager – Data Centres **Company:** Equinix
**Location:** Lagos, port Harcourt, Nigeria Key Responsibilities

• Design Leadership:

• Lead and own the design process for a portfolio of data centre projects, including:
• New builds
• Phased expansions
• Retrofits and upgrades
• Acquisition conversions

• Technical Oversight:

• Ensure compliance with Equinix standards and local regulations.
• Select mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Apply best practices in mission-critical design and cost management.

• Stakeholder Management:

• Manage relationships with architectural, mechanical, and electrical partners (MEPs).
• Oversee design consultants and equipment suppliers.
• Escalate issues when partner performance does not meet expectations.

• Standardization & Innovation:

• Contribute to the development of global design tools and processes.
• Promote consistency and technical excellence across regions.
• Evaluate innovations and their applicability across global projects.

• Site-Specific Planning:

• Assess utility availability, infrastructure design, and site logistics.
• Liaise with planning authorities and manage construction phasing.

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong background in architecture, engineering, or construction management.
• Deep understanding of data centre infrastructure and critical systems.
• Proven experience managing complex design projects and cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to think globally and act regionally.
