Woodside Energy is seeking a Digital Cost Controller for a 6-month contract with potential to extend.
The Cost Controller for the Digital team is responsible for establishing tools, processes, and frameworks that ensure transparency and governance across the end-to-end Digital portfolio. This role is pivotal in enabling effective decision-making by providing clear visibility into budget allocations, actual spend, and financial performance.
This is a 6-month contract role, ideal for a detail-oriented and analytical professional who thrives in cross-functional environments. The successful candidate will work closely with Finance, Procurement, and Digital teams to embed best practices in cost management, reporting, and financial oversight.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Visibility & Reporting
- Develop tools and reporting suites to provide end-to-end visibility of the Digital budget by business unit and for the Digital Leadership Team (DLT).
- Design frameworks for consistent monthly and quarterly analysis of actuals vs. budget, highlighting key variances and trends
- Build processes to attribute Digital costs (including cloud spend) across business areas, ensuring transparency and alignment with financial governance.
- Collaborate with Finance, Procurement, and Infrastructure teams to ensure compliance with internal policies and controls.
- Support the adoption of FinOps principles by enabling visibility into cost drivers and usage patterns.
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards to track budget vs. actuals, project financials, and unit economics.
- Promote self-serve analytics and financial transparency through user-friendly reporting tools.
- Create frameworks to support regular forecasting cycles for Digital spend.
- Design tools to facilitate root-cause analysis of variances and identify cost optimization opportunities.
- Establish processes to ensure adherence to financial governance standards, including documentation and audit readiness.
- Support internal and external audits by ensuring data accuracy and availability.
- Assist with cost recovery efforts across the Digital portfolio for services, software, and hardware.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (e.g., variance analysis, corrective action planning)
- Proficiency in data interpretation and financial modeling
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strategic thinking and process improvement mindset
- Experience with Power BI or similar dashboarding tools
- Familiarity with FinOps or cloud cost management is a plus
