Our valued client, Chevron, are looking for a Drilling Engineer to join their Perth team on an initial 12-month contract.

The role prepares P&A programs and monitors their execution for a single workover rig progressing an inventory of idle wells to Abandonment. The wells are located on Barrow Island a Class A nature reserve which is remote with a long supply chain. It is critical that the well abandonments are performed in as efficient way as possible while ensuring long term abandonment integrity.

This role requires a technically competent engineer who must have firsthand experience of large-scale campaigns and a thorough understating of well P&A practices both with and without rigs. The candidate will be required to continually share any best practices and will need to have good communication skills and a proven ability to work with other functions involved asset retirements including Operations and HSE.
Ideally has experience of working in remote locations with long supply lines

Key Role Requirements.

- Wells Engineer with experience and technical knowledge of P&A design and operations, barrier methodologies and in the application of efficiencies to develop a Batch/Factory process.
- Knowledge of both rig and rig-less operations (slick line etc.), and innovative barrier technologies.
- Able to develop cost and schedule estimates.
- Ability to understand and apply complex regulatory frameworks relevant to well abandonment.
- Performs detailed Drilling engineering well planning and design in compliance with Chevron technical standards.
- Researches well history and then develops individual well plans.
- May be responsible for technology applications to ensure efficient abandonment outcomes.
- Must have experience of both planning and executing large scale Batch/Factory abandonments, be process focused.
- Responsible for the identification, procurement, qualification (if required) and assembly of necessary equipment and materials required for the abandonment program.
- Liaison during execution with the Rig Superintendent and Business Partner representatives to facilitate fast resolution of technical issues in response to changing well conditions.
- Responsible for compliance with Company technical and process standards for wells being worked and change management as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Essential
1. Engineering Degree or substantial relevant experience
2. Experienced with onshore Plug and Abandonment planning and execution
3. Demonstrated commitment to Safety and Environmental protection

Desirable
1. Contract management
2. Well Servicing experience.
