We are working with our global engineering, construction and project management client recruiting an Employee Relations Representative to join them on either a permanent basis or contract. This position is open for both local and non-local applicants. For non-locals the is a 3/1 roster, based in Karratha WA.

Job Summary:
As an Employee Relations Representative, you will be responsible for interpreting and applying relevant federal and state employment legislation. You will provide advice and administer a major Construction project. The Employment Relations team collaborates closely with supervision, craft professionals, and trade unions to drive meaningful outcomes and proactively mitigate various industrial relations risks. As part of the larger Workforce Services team, you will assist with questions relating to the Project Agreement and its application to Training, Payroll, and Recruitment.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Team Collaboration: Manage industrial and employee relations and communicate with the workforce on an industrial construction site.
  • Auditing: Audit subcontractor employment relations management plans and internal timekeeping.
  • Safety and Health Support: Attend daily meetings, correct or report breaches, unsafe acts, or conditions.
  • Issue Resolution: Analyze and resolve industrial-related issues promptly, keeping management informed of trends.
  • Legislation Interpretation: Apply relevant state and federal legislation and project agreements.
  • Employment Changes: Process changes in employment conditions.
  • Training and Advice: Provide advice and training on project agreements to staff and workforce.
  • Legal Support: Develop documentation for industrial matters that may result in claims or disputes.
  • Incident Response: Lead the first response to industrial incidents or actions.
  • Union Coordination: Supervise and coordinate union visits, escorting organizers on-site.
  • Orientation Presentation: Present workforce services during project orientation/site induction.
  • Program Implementation: Support the implementation of environmental, safety, and health programs for direct employees.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications related to human resource management/industrial relations whilst highly regarded for this role. Previous experience in an employee relations leadership/management role on a construction project will also be highly regarded.
  • Experience and demonstrated success in human resources, industrial or employee relations, Workforce Services type roles on a construction site.
