We are working with our mining client seeking an Engagement Specialist to join them on an initial 6-month contract on a part time basis.

Job Overview:

This role is responsible for developing and executing a stakeholder engagement and communications plan to ensure the companies compliance with Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Version 3 standards. The position involves close collaboration with internal teams to identify engagement needs, implement targeted communication strategies, and integrate ASI-related practices into ongoing business operations.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead the implementation of an integrated stakeholder engagement plan to meet ASI Version 3 engagement and disclosure requirements.
  • Identify and address gaps and areas for improvement in current engagement practices.
  • Deliver high-quality engagement outputs that encourage meaningful stakeholder participation.
  • Plan and coordinate stakeholder and community engagement events in collaboration with internal teams, leveraging existing channels to ensure efficiency and reduce consultation fatigue.
  • Translate complex technical information into accessible communication materials, including fact sheets, presentations, web content, and speaking notes.
  • Support the disclosure of relevant information to stakeholders and the public.
  • Collect and manage evidence and data to support ASI audit requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of ASI audits.
  • Embed ASI engagement activities into ongoing regional and site-level business planning.
  • Contribute to broader engagement, communications, and social performance initiatives as needed.
Experience:
  • Minimum 8-years’ experience in a community engagement, project management, communications, social performance or sustainability role
  • Extensive experience planning and delivering stakeholder and community relations strategies and activities to achieve business outcomes
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams to find practical, effective solutions to complex challenges.
  • Relevant tertiary or industry qualifications
