The Executive Director – Regulatory Operations will be a key member of the clients senior leadership team, guiding the transformation of the Regulatory Operations Division toward a more strategic, risk-based regulatory model. Initially, the role will focus on leading the Well Integrity Team, implementing recommendations from the Well Integrity Review, and enhancing regulatory oversight of well integrity risks across the industry. Over time, the role will evolve to encompass broader responsibilities aligned with a lifecycle regulatory approach.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the Well Integrity regulatory function, ensuring alignment with broader lifecycle regulatory activities.
- Collaborate with the Deputy CEO – Regulatory Operations, fellow Executive Directors, and Directors to plan, resource, and deliver divisional initiatives.
- Drive change to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Well Integrity operations, working across regulatory divisions to refine approaches.
- Engage with industry stakeholders, providing strategic advice, promoting best practices, and representing the client in external forums.
- Ensure regulatory integrity, overseeing the application of regulatory powers to achieve fair, consistent, and defensible outcomes.
- Lead and develop teams, fostering alignment with the clients values and supporting staff growth through knowledge, diversity, and skill development.
- Adhere to organisational policies, including financial, communication, information management, and HR practices, while upholding APS Values, Code of Conduct, and Employment Principles.
Essential:
- Proven leadership and management experience in regulatory operations or major hazard industries, with deep understanding of asset and well lifecycle risk.
- Strong background in risk-based, objectives-driven regulation, including permissioning and systematic hazard/risk/control documentation.
- Demonstrated capability in leading organisational change and fostering collaborative relationships across teams and external bodies.
- Experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams to deliver outcomes aligned with defined milestones and standards.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or substantial experience in the offshore or downstream petroleum sector, or a comparable industry.
