Activities:
- Lead and manage the implementation of environmental monitoring program and associated permitting requirements on site
- Take responsibility from a health and safety perspective for environmental team members on site
- Lead and manage the various Verification and Assurance Monitoring tasks on site
- Provide overall management and take responsibility for the day-to-day environmental monitoring work undertaken by the environmental team members and other specialists on site
- Act as line manager and mentor to the site environmental and biodiversity team members (Environmental Verification and Assurance Lead, Environmental Lead, Environmental Site Officers, Field Ecologists and Biodiversity Officers)
- Act as lead communicator with relevant team members regarding any environmental management, monitoring and associated activities on site
- Act as lead communicator with relevant Contractor (EPC and EPCI) team members regarding environmental management and compliance on site
- Undertake day-to-day project management tasks as necessary
- Provide on-going QA/QC of V&A deliverables, notably the contractor Environmental Monthly Reports.
- Attend necessary internal and external (i.e., Company, Contractor, Government etc.) meetings as and when required
- Assist with ensuring that the relevant commitments outlined in the ESMP, and other relevant Company Plans and associated documents are implemented during the life of the various construction projects taking place on site
- Develop necessary monitoring procedures and protocols, in close collaboration with the Affiliate Environmental Manager and the HSE team
- Develop all reports and any other documents related to the verification and assurance monitoring
- Develop any necessary environmental monitoring related training materials, and provide training, as and when necessary
- Act as a mentor to the environmental team, and provide on-going on-the-job training in this regard
- Assist the environmental team members and specialists visiting site with their logistical arrangements and H&S related planning
Accountabilities:
- Leads and manage implementation of environmental management plans and associated monitoring and permitting requirements
- Provides professional knowledge and expertise in the administration and support of environmental programs on site
- Develop and implements Project Environmental Management System
Qualifications/Experience required:
- Tertiary education in environmental science, natural resources, ecology, biology or any closely related field;
- Minimum 10 years environmental experience required with thorough working knowledge of Oil & Gas process and pertinent regulations including good working
- knowledge of environmental approvals/permitting, environmental compliance monitoring and reporting;
- Working experience with IFC funded Projects;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills;
- Must possess high degree of problem-solving skills;
- Must be able to work with a diverse group of people in a professional manner and be able to handle several work tasks concurrently;
- Capable of working with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and take the initiative to evaluate and drive process improvements;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-cultural situations and with cross-discipline professionals (construction project);
- Fluency in spoken and professional English writing is mandatory. Proficient working knowledge of French and notions of Portuguese are a benefit.
