HSE Generalist – 12 Month Contract
Brisbane CBD | $650/day inc super | Global Energy-Tech Leader
NES Fircroft has partnered with Baker Hughes, a global energy technology powerhouse delivering equipment and services to energy businesses across 120+ countries, to recruit an HSE Generalist for a 12-month contract based in Brisbane CBD.
This role supports operations across multiple east coast facilities and provides a fantastic opportunity for a safety professional who thrives in a collaborative, multi-site environment. You’ll be joining a mature safety culture and will help advance contemporary risk-management and Safety 2.0 practices.
About the Role:
This is a hands-on HSE support role, where you’ll partner with operational teams at three key facilities (Toowoomba, Roma, and PNG), supporting inspections, investigations, HSE campaigns, and proactive safety engagement. The successful candidate will also assist with internal HSE reporting and commercial activities such as pre-qualification and HSE input for tendering processes.
While the workload is manageable, the business is looking for someone who can take initiative and take on added responsibilities when required. This is a great role for a mid-level safety professional who isn’t overqualified but is capable of influencing and adding value across varied stakeholder groups.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support site-based safety activities including inspections, incident investigations and safety campaigns.
- Collaborate with leadership and frontline teams to embed HSE excellence and shared accountability.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to build a strong, engaged safety culture.
- Support emergency response preparedness, training and documentation.
- Engage in HSE commercial activities (e.g. pre-qualification documentation, tender support).
- Work closely with the regional HSE team and specialists across the east coast.
- Travel to regional facilities (Toowoomba, Roma, PNG) once per quarter.
- You’re experienced in HSE and confident working in oil & gas, mining, or similar industrial environments.
- You’ve got a NEBOSH Diploma, Certificate IV in WHS, or equivalent (Bachelor's degree highly regarded).
- You’re a natural communicator – comfortable engaging with field teams, supervisors, and executive leadership alike.
- You enjoy rolling up your sleeves and supporting safety activities from the ground up.
- You hold full Australian working rights.
- 12-month initial contract
- $650/day (including super)
- Monday to Friday – Brisbane CBD based with quarterly travel
