🧭 Role Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Environmental Health & Safety Manager to join a leading engineering organisation operating across the UK and internationally. This role supports a diverse range of engineering and technological projects, including workshop production and overseas construction sites. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, promoting a culture of safety, and driving continuous improvement across multiple operational locations.

This is a hands-on role requiring regular travel (approx. 40–60%) between five UK sites and international project locations. Flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive mindset are essential.

🔍 Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems
  • Lead initiatives to embed behavioural safety and sustainability across the business
  • Identify and monitor EHS risks, develop strategies, and ensure implementation of effective plans
  • Conduct internal audits and support external audit processes
  • Carry out and review task-specific risk assessments
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, and implement corrective actions
  • Deliver toolbox talks and practical training sessions
  • Stay up to date with UK EHS legislation and ensure compliance
  • Support workshops and construction sites with inspections, audits, and incident response
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across all levels to promote EHS best practices
🎓 Required Skills & Experience

  • A-Level, HNC, or equivalent practical qualification
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or working towards Diploma)
  • Proven experience in environmental and health & safety roles
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
  • Excellent communication and IT proficiency
  • Experience with capital projects, ideally turnkey delivery
  • Familiarity with CDM regulations and COMAH requirements
  • Auditing experience and knowledge of management systems
  • Product safety experience (desirable)
