HSE Specialist

Our client, a Global Oil and Gas Operator is seeking a HSE Specialist for a 12-month contract with potential to extend. The HSE Specialist will provide field based HSE coordination and oversight on the Jansz-Io Compression (J-IC) project for a number of contracts executing work on Civils & Underground and Electrical room tie ins to the LNG Plant.

The role will support J-IC field execution activities including installation and pre-commissioning on BWI until project completion.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Provide Health & Safety (H&S) leadership, support and coaching to the J-IC Project BWI Construction Team and J-IC Execution Business Partners performing work on BWI.
• Lead Health and Safety audits, inspections and field assurance verifications to ensure execution contractor compliance with HSE management systems – in particular, Permit to Work, Electrical work, Isolation of Hazardous Energy, Lifting and Rigging and Control of Work expectations.
• Be proficient in Incident Investigation and Reporting, including elements of Human and Organisational Performance, for all on-island J-IC related incidents and ability to conduct analysis to support the Serious Injury & Fatality Prevention program.
• Leadership and proficient communications to provide direction and support to J-IC Execution Contractor HSE personnel and crew.
• Maintain liaison and communications between JIC HSE and other major capital project (MCP) HSE functions on BWI and in Perth.
• Conduct new starter project inductions and orientation sessions.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Health & Safety and/or Environmental – Degree, Diploma, Certificate or relevant experience
• 5+ years H&S experience collaborating with contractors to deliver HSE performance outcomes.
• Experience in an Operational LNG Plant with construction activities, Heavy / Critical lifting, HV Electrical and/or Commissioning Environment is highly desirable.
• Experience in Contractor HSE Management and/or execution of field-based activities on BWI or offshore would be highly beneficial for this role.
• Experience working in a Civil, Construction and/or preferably in an Oil and Gas environment.
• Demonstrated experience in leading the implementation of a project safety culture.
• Be proficient in Microsoft suite applications and basic data analysis
• The J-IC project will have a range of construction/ installation activities on BWI requiring HSE oversight. An understanding in Permit to Work, Electrical work control, Isolation of Hazardous Energy, Lifting and Rigging are necessary for this role.
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills and the ability to engage with all levels of the business in a professional and courteous manner.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and build key relationships that contribute to exceptional business results.
