Our Client, a major Oil and Energy Operator are seeking a HSSE Systems Engineer for a 12-month contract with potential to extend.

The role will be responsible for assisting with the implementation of the clients’ Wells safety systems in alignment with the Control Framework. This consists of adhering to the Wells standards to ensure Completion operational HSSE focus areas are implemented and sustained on all sites within the region. The successful candidate will report directly to HSSE Lead Wells

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee Wells HSSE systems, ensuring contractor compliance with HSSE management standards and maintaining robust reporting systems, including equipment and competency verification.
  • Manage contractor engagement processes, including support during tender evaluations, adherence to IOGP 423 standards, and onboarding activities.
  • Act as the primary contact for the Sphera incident investigation system, ensuring accurate reporting and follow-up.
  • Facilitate incident investigations and promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Serve as the focal point for Assist and Assure systems, ensuring effective reporting and system utilization.
  • Coordinate and support the planning and execution of HSSE audits.
  • Evaluate the integration of HSE focus areas across operations, ensuring alignment with client requirements.
  • Provide day-to-day HSSE support to Well Operations Managers, Team Leads, and Supervisors, ensuring consistent application of safety policies, procedures, and standards across offshore operations.
  • Champion a proactive HSSE culture among staff and contractors, both onshore and offshore.
  • Demonstrate and promote safety leadership, mentoring others to adopt and embody HSSE best practices.
Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in HSSE roles within the oil and gas industry, preferably in Wells or Completions operations.
  • Strong understanding of HSSE management systems, including incident investigation, contractor management, and audit processes.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as IOGP 423 and Control Frameworks.
  • Proficiency in HSSE software systems such as Sphera, Assist & Assure, and other reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence safety culture across multidisciplinary teams and contractors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation.
