Reporting to the EI&C Team leader, you will be the Instrument Technical Authority responsible for establishing and maintaining a suite of Instrument standards, practices and procedures aimed at delivering consistent engineering activity across our operations and projects.
 
Responsibilities
  • Accountable for site standards and processes relevant to the design, operation and maintenance of instrumentation and protective systems
  • Develop and own our Functional Safety Management System in compliance with the requirements of EN 61511
  • Provide Instrument engineering assurance to projects, including formal review of external engineering documentation
  • Custodian and ownership of common Instrument discipline processes such as Functional Safety Analysis (FSA)
  • Carry out and approve SIF reliability calculations
  • Provide technical responses to discipline related Technical Queries (TQs)
  • Define Instrument Engineering competency requirements and provide assurance of business wide Instrumentation competency and discipline health
  • Technical review and approval of relevant discipline MOCs
  • Provide Instrument expertise to incident investigations
  • Define long term opportunities for Instrumentation improvements
  • Lead or contribute to safety reviews, risk assessments and investigations as the instrumentation engineering focal point
  • Support the maintenance teams by developing planned maintenance routines
  • Support the maintenance teams in regard to equipment breakdowns, including investigation of equipment faults and defect elimination
  • Support the planning and execution of shutdowns and major outages/turnarounds
 
Experience & Qualifications
  • Candidates will hold a Degree in Instrumentation Engineering
  • Be a Chartered Instrument Engineer or working towards chartership
  • Hold Supervisor experience
  • Gained TUV Functional Safety Certification
  • Be familiar with CDM Regulations
  • Hold extensive Operation & Maintenance experience in the oil & gas industry
  • Knowledge of instrument engineering principles and proven ability to apply them to real-world problems
  • Knowledge and experience of the design, operation, commissioning and maintenance of Safety Instrumented Systems to IEC 61511
