IT CAD Drafter

My client is looking for an IT/CAD Drafter for a year long contract! This will be working remotely. 

Responsibilities:

• Manage the day-to-day intake and processing of CAD files from various sources, serving as the primary point of contact for Digital Twin CAD-related tasks.  
• Perform drafting updates, drawing conversions between different formats, and data extraction from complex engineering drawings (e.g., P&IDs, facility layouts, isometrics).  
• Combine plot-plan type drawings and standardize CAD layouts, layers, and formats to prepare them for seamless use by our GIS and digital twin platforms (ArcGIS and Cognite Data Fusion).  
• Collaborate closely with GIS developers and data integrators to understand their requirements, troubleshoot data issues, and ensure your deliverables meet their technical needs.  
• Utilize scripting tools (such as LISP, VBA, FME and Powershell) to automate repetitive drafting tasks and bulk updates, improving overall efficiency.  
• Ensure adequate quality assurance and accessibility of all CAD related data developed for Digital Twin/GIS use cases.

Required Qualifications:

• Expert proficiency in a major 2D/3D CAD software platform (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, Recap, Cadworx), with a broad understanding of common design and drafting tools.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and modifying complex technical engineering drawings and models.  
• Proficiency in Excel, Access, and Microsoft Office products, including advanced knowledge of complex formulas, macros, and external data queries.
• A meticulous, detail-oriented approach to cleaning, standardizing, and validating data.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work through software limitations and find practical solutions to data and design inconsistencies.  
• Proven ability to work independently, manage your own workload, and maintain organized records of project data and drawings.  
• Fundamental knowledge of general scripting principles, with experience in SQL, PowerShell, VBA, LISP and PowerAutomate being highly desirable.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

• Familiarity with fundamental GIS concepts (e.g., coordinate systems, georeferencing) and the Esri ArcGIS platform.  
• Exposure to field reality capture technology and processing, including laser scans, drone imagery, 360 photos, and terrestrial robotics.
• Previous experience working in an industrial or engineering environment (e.g., manufacturing, energy, utilities).  
• Extensive proficiency in Excel, Access, and Microsoft Office products, including advanced knowledge of complex formulas, macros, and external data queries.
