Industrial Electrician Job Description
Job Brief: We are seeking a highly-skilled Industrial Electrician to join our team at BYK, a leading specialty chemical company in Gonzales, TX. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems in our industrial facilities, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities:
· Install and maintain electrical systems: This includes wiring, lighting, electrical controls, breakers, and other electrical devices specific to chemical processing equipment.
· Troubleshoot and repair: Identify and fix electrical issues using various tools like ammeters, voltmeters, thermal scanners, and cable testers.
· Read blueprints and technical diagrams: Understand and apply these to ensure proper installation and maintenance of complex chemical processing systems.
· Ensure compliance: Adhere to state and local building regulations, safety standards, and company-specific protocols.
· Document work: Keep records of completed tasks, maintenance procedures, and materials used.
· Collaborate: Work with other electricians, general contractors, engineers, and team members to ensure seamless operations.
· Preventive maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to avoid unnecessary repairs and downtime.
· Safety protocols: Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Technical knowledge: Proficiency in using hand and power tools, and understanding electrical systems, especially those used in chemical processing.
· Problem-solving: Ability to diagnose and fix electrical issues efficiently.
· Attention to detail: Ensure installations and repairs are done accurately and safely.
· Communication: Effectively communicate with clients, engineers, and team members.
· Physical stamina: Perform physically demanding tasks like digging trenches and lifting heavy objects.
· Knowledge of NEC codes: Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) and NFPA-70E standards.
Education and Experience:
· Licensing: Maintain a current electrician's license or identification card as required by local regulations.
· Training: Completion of an apprenticeship or technical training program.
· Experience: Previous experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair within an industrial setting, preferably in the chemical industry.
Additional Requirements:
· Safety training: Completion of safety training specific to chemical processing environments.
· Advanced control systems: Ability to troubleshoot advanced control systems and instrumentation equipment, including PLC controls.
