Job Title: Lead Construction Planner/Scheduler
Location: Calgary, AB or Lloydminster, SK
Schedule: Mon-Fri, 40 hours/week
Contract Length: 1 year
Travel Required:
- If based in Calgary, ~8 days per month.
- If based in Lloydminster, minimal travel.
Summary:
The Lead Planner/Scheduler is responsible for both conducting core planning activities as well as managing/ coordinating all planning efforts within the LTCHO construction portfolio. As a Planner/Scheduler, this individual is responsible for assessing incoming construction/CSU Scope, documenting scope details steps, resource loading, leveling the activities and collaborating with Drilling, Completions, CSR’s, construction contractors CSU and Operations to optimized construction plan and schedules.

Responsibilities:
  • Planning:
    • Coordinating with Facilities engineering to understand static equipment requirements.
    • Building detailed plan steps in accordance with safety procedures and company policies
    • Providing a bottom-up estimate based on detailed activity level plans.
    • Coordinate with Construction Site Representatives on updates to plans and conducting lookbacks post program to ensure continuous improvement to plan efficiency and accuracy.
    • Coordinating with Commissioning and Start Up Representatives on required updates to plans and conducting lookbacks post program to ensure continuous improvement to plan efficiency and accuracy.
  • Scheduling
    • Coordinating with program management to understand rig timing, earthworks, completions, and operations activities as they relate to the construction schedule.
    • Ensure logic ties within a construction project is accurate and the most efficient way to perform the work. EG: Concurrent work
    • Ensure Schedules are resource loaded and leveled according to manpower plans.
    • Coordinating with Construction Site Representatives on required updates to schedules and conducting lookbacks to ensure continuous improvement to plan efficiency and accuracy.
    • Coordinating with Commissioning and Start Up Representatives on required updates to schedules and conducting lookbacks to ensure continuous improvement to plan efficiency and accuracy.
    • Work with cost control to establish earned value for construction activities.
  • Execution:
    • Daily update with Construction site representatives when in execution
    • Works with procurement/engineering if scope is added/removed or changed during execution. Update the plan/schedule to reflect.
    • Provides reporting as required to leadership on progress and forecasted completion dates.
    • Identifies areas of opportunity or risk to schedule during execution.
  • Closeout:
    • Planning/Scheduling support for any Post construction Field Activities
    • Capabilities:
  • Extensive knowledge of tools and various programs used for asset job planning and scheduling.
  • Utilize process outlines, estimating tools, safety procedures and standard job templates to construct and resource work package plans for all construction scope.
  • Work-cross functionally with LTCHO teams (reliability, inspection, operations, facility engineering, projects) to ensure accuracy of details within work plans.
  • Develop initial resource forecasts through consolidation and rollup of approved work scope.
  • Document and collect all planning/scheduling related lessons learned with objective of analyzing data to improve future work package planning and estimates.

Requirements:
  • Familiar with MS Project, SAP, Siteview, Power BI, and Excel
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 7+ years of experience in construction planning and scheduling, preferably in oil & gas, heavy industrial, or large infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing construction and commissioning planning efforts for complex, multi-discipline capital projects.
  • Prior experience collaborating with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Operations teams.
  • Deep understanding of construction, CSU (Commissioning and Start-Up), and operations workflows.
  • Experience working in a brownfield or live operations environment.
  • Familiarity with Alberta/Western Canadian construction and safety regulations.
