Our client, a Tier One Mining Organisation, is on the look out for the next Lead Domain Engineer.
The Lead Domain Engineer is a highly skilled technical leader with expertise in both software development and deployment of microservice architectures. They manage a team of domain experts which cover the whole range of domain expertise required for the autonomy portfolio. They collaborate closely with various teams to design, develop, and deploy robust software solutions.

They collaborate closely with various teams to design, develop, and deploy robust software solutions.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage a team of domain experts, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Set vision for the team, aligning with overall project and product goals.
- Mentor and coach team members to develop their skills and expertise.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities based on domain expertise.
- Be the recognized expert in microservice based development and deployment
- Collaborate with architects, developers, and testers to ensure high-quality designs and deployments.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes and OpenShift.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in microservices architecture.
- Troubleshoot complex technical problems related to microservices development and deployment.
- Contribute to product delivery plans, specifically for microservices development and deployment.
- Foster collaboration between domain experts, delivery squads, and other stakeholders.
- Define and manage project milestones and deadlines related to microservices.
Actively participate in technical discussions and share insights on microservices architecture.
Skills and Behaviours
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of experience in software development with a strong focus on microservices architecture.
- Proven experience in leading and managing technical teams.
- In-depth knowledge of container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes and OpenShift (certifications a plus).
- Experience with DevOps principles and practices.
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers.
- Passion for continuous learning and staying current with the latest technologies.
- Excellent decision-making skills with a strong technical foundation.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Deliver high-quality, scalable microservices on time and within budget.
- Lead a successful team of domain experts, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Actively participate in technical discussions and influence development based on best practices for microservices architecture.
