Lifting & Hoisting Lead

The Lifting Engineer / Lead role shall coordinate all lifting and Hoisting activities meeting all local government regulations and Shell specific procedures. The role includes demonstrating a strong presence at site to bring about improvements in HSSE culture of the site by working collaboratively with the Contractors and the Asset team. Adopting a learner mindset to establish safe and efficient Lifting and Hoisting methods with Contractors and to set them up for safe execution success. Additionally it is expected that the lifting engineer will coach and impart knowledge to develop lifting and hoisting capabilities for the running organization.

 

• Responsible to develop/amend and approve Procedures for Lifting and Hoisting.
• Responsible to assure and verify the competency of Implementing contractor person in-charge and all lifting crew.
• Assure that all lifting operations are correctly planned and managed.
• Assists and supports all the stakeholders in the definition of any aspect related to the lifting process.
• Provides technical advice and guidance for the following:
• Internal auditing services required for the correct lifting management system/implementation
• Design and selection of lifting appliances
• Developing and/or approving the generic lift plan operations (Simple Lift)
• Developing and/or approving the specific lift plan operations (Non-Routine Lift)
• Developing and reviewing documented thorough examination schemes for lifting appliances
• Developing and reviewing guidelines for the engineering and planning of the operations
• Investigating lifting related HSE events and sharing of the lifting operations lessons learnt
• Reviewing lifting processes
• Conducting capability assessments of contractors and subcontractors for lifting operations
• Determining requirements for management of change and deviations in lifting operations
• Competence assessment, assurance, and training of lifting personnel
• Responsible to review and approve Non-Routine Complex lift .
• Responsible to inspect and assure that all lifting gears are ok to use and well maintained.
• Perform audits on contractor(s) as required for all items and activities related to Lifting and Hoisting.
