Job Title: Mechanical Engineering Designer

Location: Edmonton/Calgary/Red Deer (Remote, hybrid)

Experience Level: 3-5+ years

Education: Mechanical engineering background or related education

Certification: APEGA (Alberta Professional Engineers and Geoscientists Association)

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the engineering team to design and develop mechanical components, with a focus on pumps and fittings for oil and gas applications.
  • Utilize CAD, SolidWorks, or similar 3D modeling software to create detailed models and drawings based on specifications provided by the manager.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to refine process designs and develop basic drawings, incorporating senior input and guidance.
  • Translate conceptual designs into detailed engineering drawings and PNID.
  • Actively engage in problem-solving, asking pertinent questions to ensure thorough understanding of project requirements.
  • Demonstrate continuous learning and research to stay updated with industry advancements and best practices.
  • Foster a collaborative environment, leveraging good interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with team members.
  • Embrace opportunities for growth by demonstrating curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to think outside the box.
  • Gradually assume ownership of technical and engineering aspects of projects, taking on increasing responsibilities over time.
Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in the oil and gas sector.
  • APEGA certification or eligibility for certification is required.
  • Proficiency in CAD and/or SolidWorks software for 3D modeling and drafting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts effectively.
  • Proven track record of demonstrating initiative, curiosity, and a drive for continuous learning.
  • Located near Edmonton/Calgary/Red Deer with the flexibility to work remotely.
