Our client, a global leader in energy projects, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer (Maintenance) to join their dynamic team for a major LNG project, which is a part of their energy transition strategy.
This is a residential role in Muscat, Oman.
In this crucial role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of mechanical, static equipment, lifting equipment and rotating equipment activities to ensure the plant's optimal performance, safety, and reliability. The job holder is a part of the company Maintenance & Inspection team and will report directly to the Maintenance and Inspection Manager.
They shall technically lead the mechanical disciplines for the facilities ensuring that the operational maintenance activities developed are technically accurate and can be executed in a safe and efficient manner in the production phase. They shall ensure that all resources (trained personnel, procedures, tools, equipment) are in place to minimize operational risk on production start-up.

Main tasks and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

- Be responsible for all MIE (Maintenance and Inspection Engineering) deliverables within his own field of expertise.
- Develop and maintain productive and constructive relationships with site-based personnel, office operations/technical teams, external contractors/vendors and engineering team.
- Prepare and validate the maintenance program for rotating and static equipment for the facilities.
- Ensure the preparation of complex site maintenance procedures, ensuring incorporation of best practice.
- Develop technical Scopes of Work and Participate to the preparation of call for tenders (CFT) of the specific maintenance contracts (SMCs) required for the operational phase (Air compressor, Pumps, TEX, Gas compressors, Exchanger, lifting equipment, TEX, EDG, loading arm, etc). Ensure all (SMCs) for mechanical are in place before the start-up.
- Technically lead the MIE development process with respect to Mechanical. Provide detailed input and contribute to the overall MIE strategy development for maintenance and spares parts and provide technical support into detailed maintenance requirements of equipment
- Participate in inter-discipline MIE activities including maintenance and criticality strategy development, global maintenance plan preparation, writing of maintenance plans and procedures. Ensure that all MIE deliverables are in line with National Legislation, Affiliate and COMPANY Specifications and Best practices.
- Contribute to develop and implement MIE tools, process and systems for the project to meet the overall Field operations planning and goals.
- Be actively involved and provide assistance in the Pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up activities
- Provide high level of technical and administrative support to site and to control tower office.
- To manage and to monitor the Maintenance Mechanical activities, with accountability for short, medium and long term maintenance.
- CMIMS system and spare parts stock to ensure Mechanical Field Maintenance activities are done with the necessary spare parts, procedures and specialized manpower on its short, medium and long term business execution plan.
- Monitor, coordinate and Manage Specific Maintenance Contract of mechanical field.
- Accountable for Synergi / Downgraded Situation (DGS) actions against the Mechanical Discipline
- Define long term investment plan on obsolete equipment and systems
- Focal for the development and implementation of Maintenance strategies, Methos and Procedures for mechanical discipline
- Ensure mechanical scopes in the 5 years, 2 years, 4 month and 5 week planning are visible, gate criterias met and are optimised and integrated in the Field IOP.
- Monitor contractor performance in Mechanical discipline and participate, as appropriate, in contractor audits. Ensure the effective monitoring of preventive, conditional, and corrective maintenance plans (including: vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, machine efficiency, UNISOL maintenance plans) to ensure maximum availability at the lowest cost.
Desired background and experience
- Professional Experience: Experience in Operational Maintenance Execution and Development within an LNG or Oil and Gas context
- At least 10 years’ experience in mechanical, and 5 years in field operations.
- Minimum 3 years in supervisory operational position.
- Experienced in resource control, contract management and general management
- Experience in projects is a plus.
