Lead Process Design Engineer – Cowboy Portfolio Projects

Roles and Responsibilities
- Support capital project development (Pre-Gate 2) by contributing to concept selection, optimization studies, and performing preliminary equipment sizing (pumps, separators, heat exchangers, etc.), while applying process design expertise and lessons learned to ensure robust early-phase design.
- Lead the development and delivery of Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and Detailed Engineering Design (DED) packages, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
- Review and validate process engineering deliverables, including Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs), Heat and Material Balances (HMBs), datasheets, process calculations, control narratives, flare and relief system calculations, and cause & effect diagrams, in accordance with the Engineering Surveillance Plan.
- Participate in and lead technical reviews such as concept selection, P&ID reviews, Hazard and Operability Reviews (HAZOPs), and 3D model reviews, ensuring timely resolution and closure of all action items.
- Provide process engineering support throughout the project lifecycle, including troubleshooting during construction, commissioning, and startup to ensure operational readiness and performance.
- Collaborate with contractors and multidisciplinary teams across all project stages to resolve technical queries, address design challenges, and ensure integrated, high-quality project execution.
- Champion process safety by identifying and mitigating hazards, and working closely with Operations to implement safe, practical solutions.
- Continuously identify and implement improvements to engineering work processes, tools, and project execution strategies across both new and existing facilities.
Additional Responsibilities (training will be provided as needed):
- Perform project economic analysis such as Net Present Value (NPV) and Present Value Ratio (PVR).
- Lead the implementation of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), ensuring compliance with Safety Integrity Level (SIL) requirements and IEC 61511 standards.
- Work with contractors to develop Safety Requirement Specification (SRS) and steward SIL verification calculations using ExSILentia software and Process Safety time determination, with help of internal resources.
- Serve as the Industrial Control System Requirements (ICSR) Champion for Cowboy portfolio, ensuring project compliance with Industrial Control Systems and Cybersecurity Requirements, and supporting related audits and documentation.
- Steward Reliability Availability and Maintainability (RAM) study updates and capital sparing analysis for Cowboy portfolio projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- 2+ years experience doing equipment sizing calculations (pumps, separators, heat exchangers, etc.)
- 5+ years experience overall
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Oil & Gas or Chemicals industry
- Experience working on projects
