Job Title: Mod Yard Field Lead
Location: Nisku, AB
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: Q1/Q2 2026 (potential for extensions)
Purpose:
The Mod Yard Field Lead is focal point for the Operations Readiness team at the Mod Yard. The Mod Yard Field Lead supports safe, and efficient field execution at the Mod Yard. The role will require the individual to support construction, participating in walkdowns and advance cleanliness and quality checks based on the Mitigation of Repeated Failures (MRF) program target areas. The duration of the position is linked to the construction schedule at the Mod Yard with completion of the module program expected to wrap up in Q1/Q2 2026.
Dimensions
  • 5x8 schedule but may change based on construction schedule.
  • Extra hours may be required based on workload, schedule and project need.
  • All accumulated hours outside of the base schedule will be compensated at the contracted rate.
  • Able to functionally support the Construction Project Team and the Operations Readiness/CSU team with demonstrated ability to integrate with the General Works Contractor (GWC), QA/QC and project leadership.
  • Role does not include direct reports but will be required to coordinate with multiple departments
  • This position reports to Project Production Specialist.
  • Work location will be at Mod Yard Fabrication Facility located in Nisku, AB.

Accountability and Expectations
  • HSSE General: Assist in resolving field coordination/constructability issues with project construction team, production, and safety.
  • Expected to be a visible safety leader and model company’s core values.
  • Conduct Safety and MRF walks on project construction fieldwork and communicate findings/results to construction/project group.
  • Learning From Incident, Causal Learning participation in Incident Investigations as needed.

General
  • Manage a working log of area construction activities (i.e. inspection documentation, interface with the MRF program)
  • Inspection areas include piping cleanliness, construction vs design, accessibility, ensuring cleanliness for transportation is in place (covers, wrap), vessel internal inspections (physical and via boroscope)
  • Participate in Ready to Ship walkdowns and Punchlist sign off verification
  • Preservation tracking of equipment (verification that the required preservation is in place)
  • Strong ability to communication with construction team and project team
  • Labelling of piping based on P&ID’s
Special Challenges
  • The key challenge is managing the interfaces between Project Engineering, Operations Readiness and Construction.
  • The role will involve decision mindset thinking, specifically the ability to balance the Owner vs Project Management Team’s objectives.
  • Strong change management mindset is required.

Required Skills
  • Ability to pass Fall Arrest and Confined Space Entry training will be required
  • Background in Production, at least 10 years of experience.
  • Minimum 4th class power engineering certificate or equivalent.
  • Preference for individuals with Hydrogen Manufacturing, CCS, Steam Boiler and Water Treatment operating experience.
  • Previous commissioning or turnaround planning roles would be an asset
  • Demonstrated evidence of Enterprise-First values and behaviors will be also considered during the selection process
  • Navisworks experience preferred
  • Though this is a QA/QC role, a background in Production Operations is required
