Position: NWP Welding Engineer
Location: UAE
Status: Resident
Start date: September 2025
Duration: 2 years with the option to extend for 1 additional year
Travel: Business trips to Iraq when required

MAIN MISSIONS
• To adopt and demonstrate an exemplary behavior with regard to H3SE rules and requirements and for ensuring their implementation within his/her scope of responsibility.
• The service holder is in charge within the Network Wellpads and Pipelines (NWP) Package, under the NWP Quality Lead responsibility, of all activities associated to Material and Welding disciplines (including but not limited to pipeline/piping/structure welding, induction bending, forging, linepipe manufacturing,…).
• The service holder ensures during Detailed Engineering, Procurement and Construction phases that all activities, deliverables and documents (internal and external) related to the disciplines he/she is in charge are timely issued, executed and fit for purpose.
• The service holder ensures Contractor, Subcontractors and Suppliers’ deliverables and documents are compliant with applicable codes, standards, Project specifications and best engineering practices related to his/her disciplines.
• Within NWP Package, the service holder is the Contractor’s focal point for all matters related to the disciplines and subjects he/she is in charge of.
• The service holder participates in the follow-up and supervision of qualification, audits, testing, fabrication and construction activities, at Contractor, Subcontractors and Suppliers workshops or worksites, related to his/her discipline, directly and/or with the support of the surveillance and site QC team.
• The service holder will participate in the review and resolution of any discipline-related Technical Query, Deviation Requests and NCR occurring during Detail Engineering and execution phases.
• The service holder will actively identify the main risks and opportunities related to the disciplines he/she is in charge of and contribute to their follow-up in line with Project objectives.
• The service holder actively liaises with other specialists of the NWP Package in order to ensure consistency of the works, in particular with the NWP NDE Engineer.
• The service holder also liaises with Company HQ discipline specialists as necessary.

KEY ACTIVITIES
• To adhere to the Project H3SE and ensure that HSSEQ issues and requirements are correctly handled and met in all the disciplines-related technical documents and construction activities.
• To ensure that safe working practices are used within the Package along all phases of the Project.
• To be informed of disciplines-related Project Specifications and international norms and standards, taking knowledge from them to application to the Project.
• To issue and maintain all the necessary technical documentation related to the disciplines.
• To ensure that contractual scope of work is duly and timely performed by Contractor.
• To ensure daily liaison with Contractor with regards to disciplines-related matters and participate to weekly/monthly coordination meetings with Contractor as appropriate.
• To ensure follow-up / review / validation of progress performed by Contractor with regard to his/her disciplines and analyses/reports drifts that could occur and propose remedial solutions.
• To supervise and control the Detailed Engineering by timely reviewing the disciplines-related documentation issued by Contractor, Subcontractors and Suppliers (WPS / WPQR / technical documentation / queries / Deviation Requests...), in order to ensure compliance with Project Specifications, procedures, international norms and standards with the objective to ensure respect of the schedule and to optimize costs without impacting required level of Quality and Safety. To raise consequently necessary comments and highlight unsafe design, deviations, unacceptable / unjustified design choices, constructability issues etc.
• To ensure adequate and timely reporting to the NWP Quality Lead on progress and concerns, and in a general manner, anticipates problems, proposes potential optimizations, improvements and solutions with regards to his/her disciplines.
• To liaise and interface actively with other NWP discipline specialists with regard to the disciplines related matters and on all engineering, procurement, constructability, operability and maintainability matters, in order to ensure consistency of the work.
• To suggest, organize and participate to all necessary inspections and give advice on the matter with regards to disciplines related matters.
• To attend, when required, to KOM, PIM and any ad-hoc meeting with Contractor, subcontractors and suppliers.
• To assist Company Representatives in the supervision of all discipline related activities at fabrication sites, in particular:
o Witness of welding qualifications (PQR/WPS, Welders, Operators);
o Witness of mechanical/corrosion testing;
o Assessment and evaluation of welding environment and facilities, equipment, including arrangements for personnel protection and HSE;
o Examination and assessment of materials and welding consumables management;
o Witness any special processes such as Heat Treatment, Induction Bending, Forging,…
• To assess and follow-up Contractor welding performance and propose improvement or remedial plan.
• To ensure confidentiality of all the disciplines-related documentation produced whatever its support.
• To gather and ensure lesson-learnt are taken into account and participate to the issuance of feedback for his/her disciplines.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Ensure material and welding discipline related activities are performed in accordance with the Project requirements and objectives.

CANDIDATE PROFILE / QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum 15 years in Oil and Gas projects.
• 10 years of experience, with significant experience as Welding Engineer for pipeline installation Projects.
• Previous experience with international EPC Pipeline Contractors
• Knowledge of design and construction code for pipeline (DNVGL-ST-F101, API 1104), pressure vessels (ASME BPVC).
• International Welding Engineer diploma (IIW, EWF, ESSA) (essential).
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (material, mechanical engineering or related field).
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
• Strong Communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
