Location: Brisbane CBD
Contract Type: 12-Month Contract
Rate: $1100/day including super
NES Fircroft is partnered with Shell QGC to source a Production Geologist to support their Operated Coal Seam Gas (CSG) producing asset in Queensland. This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team delivering critical subsurface evaluations to ensure the safe and efficient development of resources.
About the Role: As a Production Geologist, you will act as an individual technical contributor, applying geoscience expertise to support field development, well delivery, and production optimisation. Working collaboratively within an integrated team, you will take ownership of key subsurface projects and ensure consistent application of geoscience standards and best practices.

About the Role: As a Production Geologist, you will act as an individual technical contributor, applying geoscience expertise to support field development, well delivery, and production optimisation. Working collaboratively within an integrated team, you will take ownership of key subsurface projects and ensure consistent application of geoscience standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply production geology expertise to deliver technical projects and support ongoing field development.
- Conduct CSG reservoir characterisation, lithostratigraphic well correlations, and volumetric assessments.
- Deliver static subsurface reservoir models for CBM reservoirs and support multi-scenario modelling.
- Contribute to safe and effective well planning and abandonment operations through geological input.
- Collaborate closely with Subsurface, Tenures, Production, Commercial and Engineering teams.
- Present analysis and recommendations at peer reviews and technical assurance sessions.
- Document evaluations and manage data in accordance with Shell technical standards.
- Promote HSSE culture and identify risks relevant to geoscience operations and office activities.
- Demonstrated geoscience experience in CSG/CBM production environments.
- Proven track record in:
- Reservoir characterisation
- Lithostratigraphic well correlations
- Integrated well/reservoir performance assessments
- Static modelling
- Volumetric estimation
- WRFM support
- Experience in well planning and delivery (including P&A wells).
- Strong working knowledge of Petrel; Python scripting skills highly regarded.
- Background in Surat Basin geology is strongly preferred.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and coach junior geoscientists as needed.
- Work with a leading global operator in a technically progressive team.
- Competitive daily rate of $1100 including super.
