Our client is actively seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join their team! This individual will be responsible for the engineering and technical disciplines associated with a variety of projects, including the planning, establishment of criteria, project reviews, and proper implementation of essential project elements. This is a full-time, contract opportunity, that will be completed on a remote basis, with roughly 50-60% travel to various project sites throughout the United States. 


JOB SUMMARY

This position is to complete duties as assigned for the successful execution and delivery of projects.  This role is responsible for the engineering and technical disciplines needed to complete a project. The project engineer works to plan projects, establish project criteria, coordinate project reviews, and ensure the proper implementation of project elements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Preparing, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring of assigned engineering projects.
  • Formulating project parameters and assigning responsibilities to the most capable employees and monitoring the project team.
  • Assists the construction manager in managing the implementation phase of a project.
  • Performing quality control tasks on budgets, schedules, plans, and personnel performance and reporting on the project's status.
  • Cooperating and communicating with the project manager and other project participants and collaborating with senior engineers to create more efficient project methods and to maintain the project's profitability.
  • Reviewing the engineering tasks and initiating the necessary corrective actions.
  • Developing specifications for the project's needed equipment.
  • Creating frameworks to measure the project's metrics and data collection.
  • Develop & conduct quality inspections during the construction phase of projects.
  • Ensuring the project's compliance with the applicable codes, practices, policies, performance standards, and specifications.
  • Actively documents lessons learnt and feeds back into broader organization.
  • All other duties as requested or assigned.
  • Travel – 50%

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge in civil, mechanical or electrical construction practices.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles.
  • High competency in Microsoft Office Suite of products.
  • Project scheduling skills with experience in Microsoft Project/Primavera including schedule development and maintenance desirable.
  • Ability to understand and willingness to follow corporate policies and procedures for Capital Project Management.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in construction, manufacturing or engineering.
  • Requirements Analysis, Design Skills, Project Management, Knowledge of Construction Methods and Materials, Process Improvement, Technical Understanding, Documentation Skills, Risk Management, CAD/CAM.
  • Must have excellent computer skills with Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project, AutoCAD.
  • Excellent Communication skills.

The employee should possess the ability to:
 
  • Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
  • Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out
  • Prolong standing or in stationary position
  • Complete repetitive movements
  • Bend and/or twist
  • Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
  • Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision, and hardhat protection)
