Our client, an engineering services company, are currently hiring a Project Estimating Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis.

Job Purpose
The main purpose of this position is to carry out project estimating for small to large fabrication / piping work scopes as per customer enquiries, ITT’s and RFQ’s.

Main Responsibilities
  • To carry out tasks as requested by the Workshop Manager or Divisional Manager
  • Estimating of small and large fabrication / piping projects as per customer enquiries, ITTs & RFQ’s, scope of works, specifications and requirements
  • Prepare and submit tender, quotation and supporting documentation in line with company work instructions and processes
  • Customer liaison, meetings, reporting and communication for fabrication & piping projects
  • Assist with workshop project documentation and certification
  • Estimating win / loss reporting to Workshop Manager
  • Maintain a safe and tidy working environment and make appropriate use of PPE at all times
  • Work to HSE ACOPs, customer rules & specifications, company / divisional work instructions and forms at all times
  • Represent the company in a professional manner at all times
  • Carry out any other reasonable task / activities as requested by Divisional Manager or Senior Management Team

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to learn and adapt to the requirements of the role
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and BOMs
  • Possess computer skills and knowledge of using Microsoft software packages such as Word and Excel etc
  • Possess a high level of focus and attention to detail and accuracy
  • Organisational ability and time management skills
  • Demonstrated self-starter with high initiative and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Advanced conversational and written English/high level interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces
  • Ability to deal with sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Able to work overtime

Knowledge & Experience
  • Preferred minimum SVQ level 3 or equivalent or higher in relevant trade qualification
  • Preferred five (5) years estimating experience working in a fabrication / piping engineering environment
  • Preferred knowledge of BS EN 1090, ISO 3834 and PED (UKCA / CE) Standards
  • Preferred basic knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
  • Preferred Full clean driving licence
