JOB DESCRIPTION
The field supervision of construction projects to include interfacing with the project owner or agent, scheduling crews and subcontractors, communicating to the Project Manager any claims and determining “as built” quantities of work performed.


REQUIREMENTS:
  1. EDUCATION
Minimum qualifications High School Graduate with at least two years of experience in construction supervision.

C.        SKILLS, KNOWLEDE AND ABILITIES
1.         Leadership and negotiating skills.
2.         The uses of conversational, analytical and observational skills, which demonstrate an ability to organize, control and manage all areas of field operations for the road construction industry.
3.         Knowledge of materials, equipment, methods and techniques used in road construction.
4.         Knowledge of possible defects and faults in work and of stages where such faults and defects are most readily ascertained.
5.         Ability to understand and interpret terms and specifications of contracts.
6.         Ability to conduct effective inspections in determining contract compliance.
7.         Ability to calculate figures and mathematical concepts.
8.         Knowledge of construction lien laws.
9.         Computer Use: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, & Word; Bluebeam

D.        JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Superintendent’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  1. Understanding Safety program and ability to enforce safety requirements as necessary.
  2. Understanding of plans and owner specifications, including subcontracted scopes.
  3. Understanding of proper sequencing of activities in roadway construction.
  4. Ability to effectively communicate schedule expectations internally and to Subcontractors.
  5. Supervision and participation in securing compliance that contract work meets contract specifications for the company and subcontracted work.
  6. The accurate take-off of quantities and the determination of material requirements from project plans and specifications.
  7. The preparation of detailed resource requirements from the quantity take-offs and specifications.
  8. Coordination of subcontractors on jobs and maintenance of subcontractor progress.
  9. Assisting the Project Manager in Preparation and submittal of schedules, material sources, claims, invoices, or any other required paperwork internally within the company and to all relevant parties externally.
  10. An awareness of the daily costs associated with assigned projects.
