RISER ENGINEER

MISSION AND JOB DESCRIPTION


As a Lead Engineer, integrated into the Riser Systems department, you will be involved in the study of riser systems as a whole from the bidding phases to project execution by organizing activities associated with the realization of riser systems in coordination with the project technical manager and the department head.

You will be asked to organize the work of the team assigned to you and manage interfaces with other disciplines (Installation Methods, Technologies, procurement, etc.) by carrying out the following activities:

• Review and understand client specifications,
• Review and understand the input data provided by the client, particularly environmental data and data related to floats. Actively participate in the clarification and interface process,
• Manage the sizing and analysis of dynamic systems in a rigid configuration, , flexible or hybrid,
• Ensure that the design complies with all industry standards as well as the client's general and specific specifications,
• Plan and conduct the overall analysis of the riser system and ensure that the procedures and analysis methods are consistent with the project objectives,
• Organize and conduct system review sessions,
• Produce and verify documentation validating the design: design basis, validation report, mass balance...
• Issue and review material purchase specifications and for any subcontracting. Actively participate in the evaluation process of received bids and the selection of suppliers. Ensure the technical follow-up of orders,
• Participate, when necessary, in the clarification process of tenders, project kickoff meetings, validation meetings, risk assessment meetings, etc.
• Set up and apply quality control rules for input data, numerical models, post-processing matrices, and result validation,
• Participate in audits related to engineering activities,
• Provide the necessary technical support to other departments and integrate their constraints in the sizing,
• Ensure knowledge sharing within the department and participate in department meetings,
• Contribute to the development of internal methods and procedures for riser sizing
•Contribute to the development of technical and social skills of junior engineers

PROFILE
• Engineering degree or equivalent, ideally in solid or fluid mechanics,
• Significant experience in the Oil & Gas industry, including a minimum of 5 years in the design of subsea risers
• Mastery of certain software dedicated to riser sizing using finite elements (OrcaFlex, Flexcom, Deeplines, SHEAR7) and their API (Application Programming Interface),
• Fluent English and ability to work in a multicultural environment and with remote teams,
• Strong knowledge in solid mechanics, hydrodynamics, and wave modeling,
• Basic knowledge in programming (Python), probabilistic sizing of structures, naval architecture (mastery of RAOs), installation methods for risers,
• Experience in installation analysis,
• Knowledge of generic software for finite element calculations such as ABAQUS,
• Autonomy and rigor, • Good communication skills and good interpersonal relations,
• Problem-solving ability,
• Adopting a proactive and flexible approach.
• The last three points are purely optional but real differentiating assets:
• Experience in the design of flexible pipes and/or umbilicals,
• Offshore experience on installation vessels,
• Some skills in the French language are a real plus.
