Job Summary Teesside Operations

The Terminal, located in Teesside at the mouth of the river Tees, is a crude oil reception, processing, storage, and trans-shipment installation. The terminal also fractionates natural gas liquids into ethane, propane, and butane.

Reporting to the Engineering and Projects Manager and working in cross-functional collaboration across the wider organisation, you will be responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of a small team of engineers and technical professionals to ensure the safe execution of rotating and mechanical maintenance, including design and modifications. The role will develop and implement strategies for managing maintenance and reliability work processes, ensuring alignment with procedures, asset integrity and reliability.
 
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Chartered Mechanical Engineer, who has held leadership positions within Operations & Maintenance in the oil, gas, chemical industry or other regulated industry.
  

Job Description Primary Role Objectives
 
  • Manage Rotating and Mechanical Preventative Maintenance Strategy to ensure compliance to National regulation and company policy
  • Manage associated integrated service contracts for relevant Engineering and Maintenance functions, both self and within team
  • Understand and use functional/regional and Corporate expertise to contribute to the success of the Business
  • Provide scope, guidance, technical support and input to project/activities which involve all aspects of M&R disciplines
  • Co-ordinate and manage specialist equipment vendors (scope of work, tender, bid analysis, mobilisation, import/export)
  • Support Project Delivery team in equipment overhauls to ensure they are completed in a timely manner and agreed budgets and schedules, participate in PSSR reviews to ensure standards are met
  • Support the effectiveness and motivation of Mechanical & Rotating team members through monitoring the progress of challenging objectives
  • Accountable for reviewing and approving relevant department and plant procedures by self and team
  • Sponsor the planning and execution of shutdowns and major outages/turnarounds
  • Support and be accountable for commissioning activities for CAPEX projects to ensure a safe and incident free start up

Skills, Experience & Competencies

Basic Requirements
  • Degree in Relevant Engineering Discipline
  • Chartered Engineer
  • Contract Management Experience
  • Extensive Operation & Maintenance experience in the oil & gas, chemical or other regulated industry
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical & rotating engineering principles and proven ability to apply them to real-world problems
  • Demonstrate effective communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of the Levels of protection analyses (LOPA), Safety Integrity Level (SIL) control loops, HAZID / HAZOP Processes
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications, familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems
  • Effective reporting skills
  • Able to adapt to unexpected challenges and shifting priorities
