We're looking for a Safety and Loss Prevention Principal Engineer for our client. They are a leader in floating technologies for the oil and gas industry and the office is located in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
As a Safety & Loss Prevention (SLP) Lead Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening technical expertise within the SLP discipline. You will lead project teams, drive continuous improvement of corporate processes and tools, and provide dedicated support to projects executed from our Rotterdam office.
You will collaborate closely with the Discipline Manager, Technical Authority, and Engineering Management to enhance both the quality and efficiency of engineering deliverables/project execution.

As a Safety & Loss Prevention (SLP) Lead Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening technical expertise within the SLP discipline. You will lead project teams, drive continuous improvement of corporate processes and tools, and provide dedicated support to projects executed from our Rotterdam office.
You will collaborate closely with the Discipline Manager, Technical Authority, and Engineering Management to enhance both the quality and efficiency of engineering deliverables/project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead SLP discipline efforts during project execution, including proposal, FEED, and EPCI phases.
- Prepare discipline-specific execution plan, hour estimates, and resource planning for proposals and ongoing projects.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement lessons learned to continuously improve SLP engineering guidelines and work instructions.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, ensuring knowledge transfer, preservation of product knowledge, and application of industry best practices.
- Perform quality audits for SLP deliverables within the Rotterdam office and at subcontractor locations to ensure compliance with our client's Technical Standards and corporate processes.
Job requirements:
- At least 15 years of relevant experience, incl. conceptual design, FEED and EPC project experience for offshore Oil & Gas projects (preferably in FPSO project).
- At least 4 years of experience in a lead engineer role, demonstrating the ability to manage teams and drive project to success.
- Proven leadership and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage team members and stakeholders.
- Skill in work planning, prioritization, and delegation to ensure timely and efficient execution of tasks.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and with various stakeholders to support seamless project delivery.
- Proactive in proposing and optimizing engineering methodologies and processes, especially in fast-track project environments.
- In-depth technical knowledge of SLP engineering, including Process Safety principles, loss prevention systems and design, Human Factor engineering, and safety studies (e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA).
- Knowledge and experience with SLP engineering tools and software applications used in process safety, hazard analysis, and loss prevention design.
