Safety Specialist

Job Title: Safety Specilaist 
Project Location: Northern Territories
Sector: Mining 
Contract: 6+ month potential extension

Responsbilities:

• Working closely with front line personnel and leadership teams to plan and implement proactive safety and risk improvement measures.
• Facilitating and reviewing risk assessments and conducting quality observations to enhance risk assessments used in the field including SLAM’s and JSEA’s to prevent incidents
• Promoting awareness and monitoring compliance to the safety management systems and processes
• Facilitating incident investigations using the ICAM methodology
• Provide support to the operational area and HSEC team with strong customer service to provide proactive solutions and to facilitate effective health and safety management and a positive safety culture.
• Safety performance reporting, auditing and trend analysis
• Drive continuous improvement to health/safety performance
• Demonstrating a high level of visible leadership with the Processing and Smelting areas

Experience:

• Tertiary Safety qualifications (minimum – Diploma) & Risk Management qualifications are highly desirable.
• Demonstrated safety experience in a heavy industrial/mining environment; background in a related construction industry role preferred.
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Commitment to improving health and safety outcomes.
• Highly effective communicator through all levels of the business
• Strong and effective facilitator
