NES Fircroft are delighed to represent one of our client's in finding their new Sea Trials Manager for a 12 month contract. The position will be based in Appledore with occasional travel, primarily to Portland. Attendance on sea trials may also be required.

For this role, the chosen candidate will be on a competitive daily rate. 

This role will be reporting directly to the Senior Company Representative, the Sea Trials Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless execution of sea trials.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the qualification and availability of all personnel attending trials, including OEMs, contractors' crews, and pilots.
  • Coordinate booking necessary resources such as areas, ports, tugs, and ancillary services required for the vessel during trials.
  • Facilitate readiness review meetings in partnership with the Senior Company Representative and ensure timely completion of action items.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for all personnel involved in the trials.
  • Generate daily plans and report trial progress to the project team.
  • Work closely with the Chief Mate to ensure proper vessel manning and enforce company protocols, including Standing Orders and drug and alcohol policies.
  • Liaise with customers to address their specific requirements during trials.
  • Collaborate with the Bosun/Buffer to ensure the availability of necessary trial equipment and coordinate with the catering team to ensure adequate stores are onboard.
  • Coordinate crew training programs and passenger familiarization sessions in conjunction with the Chief Mate.
  • Maintain Next of Kin (NOK) forms and deliver them to the Designated Person Ashore (DPA) upon departure.
  • Serve as a key member of the Emergency Response Team.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • Ideally suited for former Royal Navy/Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RN/RFA) personnel with experience on Hunt Class vessels a bonus.
  • Strong administrative and coordination skills with an emphasis on clear communication.
  • Previous experience with sea trials or a similar maritime environment is highly desirable.
