Senior Project Manager – Commercial Construction
 
Slate Architecture & Construction are a multi-disciplinary architecture and construction group, delivering remarkable residential homes and commercial projects across New Zealand. In continuing with their expansion into commercial construction they have an exciting, new opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join their well-established team who are heavily involved with both commercial and high-end residential projects in Taranaki and across the rest of New Zealand.
 
This role will be based in New Plymouth but will be project managing both local and national out-of-region remote projects. It is a pivotal part of their growth within the commercial construction sector. The right person for this role would have a strong background in commercial construction, contractor management and authority. You will be responsible for full-cycle project management across both commercial and high-end residential projects, communication and relationship management with clients and stakeholders and providing leadership to other team members ensuring you are fostering a strong team culture.
 
To be successful in this role you would need:
  • Full Project Management experience within the Commercial Construction sector and ideally high-end residential experience as well
  • Proven experience managing large-scale commercial projects ($15m+)
  • Strong Leadership and mentorship experience
  • Excellent written and written communication with passion for managing client and team relationships
  • Strong business acumen within the construction sector
  • Experience in managing project expenditures, and monitoring cost-control measures
  • Relevant tertiary or trade qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand Construction Legislation
  • Familiarity with NZS 3910:2023 and contract administration processes
 
Having strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide array of internal and external parties is required, as well as having high attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
 
You will need to be driven, be flexible and enjoy working under pressure at times and this role is a great opportunity for those that are confident in their project management skills and have the ability to manage projects and teams with confidence.

We will consider candidates across NZ for this permanent role, however, if you are not based already in Taranaki then it is a requirement to permanently relocate for this position and applicants must have the current legal right to work and live in New Zealand.
