NES Fircroft are supporting our valued client, INPEX, who are looking for a Senior Subsurface Data and Technology Specialist to join their Perth Team on contract until the end of December 2025.

Position Objective

Seismic Data Management
  • Actively manages subsurface data and documents in the exploration / development: geoscience, reservoir and production, GIS and permit data domains. This includes monitoring data quality, standards, compliance, governance policies, and adjusting data in support of organizational objectives.
  • Lead and drive crossfunctional initiatives to improve existing data and acquire, load, archive, organize, search data to support business success in the context of Upstream projects.
  • Oversees the management of all types of data and documents received into and going out of the corporate and project data stores, adhering to standard processes, procedures, and best practices.
  • Responsible for ensuring consistent data management practices, acting as a liaison between the asset/discipline teams and data management.
  • Oversees all operational, quality assurance, and quality control processes to build/maintain a robust O&G Upstream database.
Primary Responsibilites
OHS
  • Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring the welfare of personnel and the protection of assets and the environment at all times.
Seismic/ Geophysics Expertise
  • Preliminary / Final Deliverables Data Management.
  • Indepth understanding of 2D & 3D Seismic formats and products
  • Intermediate and final deliverables in Time and Depth
  • Observer reports, Stacks, Gathers, Nears, Mids, Fars, Velocities, PSDM, SEGY, SEGD etc.
  • Data delivery for endusers, partners and vendors (via USB and EIS)
  • Skills in loading, sourcing, cutting, identifying datasets in consultation with customer
  • NOPTA submission requirements knowledge and experience
  • GIS skills for Georeferencing Tif images (Petrosys/Petrel)
  • GPInfo Data management
  • Updating permits and other spatial layers for DBmap and Petrel Studio
  • Facilitate transcription requests:
  • Physical transcription paper to digital
  • Media transcription tape to USB
  • Digital transcription image to file (e.g. pdf to LAS)
Data Analysis
Data investigations skills related to:
  • Data quality
  • Data availability
  • Multiclient license obligations,
  • Datarooms and data-trades
  • Dataextractions (Selecting by AOI, or depth ranges)
Studio Knowledge
Studio / Petrel Data Management Expertise
  • Architecture & Best Practice knowledge
  • Working / Reference, Internal/Repository knowledge & experience
  • Publishing Workflows, ZGY Repositories and Standards
  • Seismic Storage Expertise
  • Online storage requirements best practice and knowledge
  • Seismic metadata and registration processes
  • Media Management / Service Provider Management knowledge and experience
Seismic Database
  • Cegal Seismic Data Management (SDM) Database experience (or similar) training can be provided
  • Online management of Active and Nonactive Seismic footprint
  • Using tools to identify footprint reduction opportunities
  • Deleting data (removing unrequired intermediate data sets)
  • Deduplicating data (removing duplicate projects & data sets)
  • Monitoring available space

Provide input to data management planning activities and resourcing estimates, as required.

Qualifications

Mandatory:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geosciences, or Information Technology; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of workflows and the data impact to workflows in Upstream.
  • Experience in data profiling and data quality principles and techniques is an advantage.
Preferred:
  • Certified Petroleum Data Analyst (CPDA) credential
Skills and Experience
  • At least 10- 15 years’ experience as a petrotechnical data or technology manager (Well, Seismic, Spatial, Production, HPC and System Admin domains).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functions within the organization.
  • Can successfully supervise and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Skilled in assimilation and prioritization of extensive information flows.
  • Ability to meet strict timelines.
  • Ability to explain Data and Technology Management concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Hands-on ability with industry data management key applications
