RESPONSIBILITIES
Specify, monitor, and advise on all metallurgical, fabrication, welding, and NDE aspects (including QA/QC) during engineering, procurement, construction, and offshore operation project phases of various products (FPSO, FSO, MS, PLEM, and Calm Buoy).
This includes pressure-retaining equipment, piping, and structural components associated with these product lines.
Coordinate, execute, and control metallurgical and welding activities in projects and/or proposals in accordance with project requirements, within the assigned budget, time schedule, and quality standards.
Ensure that manufacturers, construction yards, and suppliers comply with client requirements and applicable international rules, codes, standards, and procedures.
Responsible for man-hours estimation and monitoring of engineering budget for the field of expertise within the projects.
Provide global support to group companies and offices to ensure that industry standards are met. The range of services includes manufacturers and product technical qualifications, specification development, specialist technical advice, and failure investigations.
Continuously identify opportunities to standardize, simplify, and improve efficiency of ways of working.

MAIN TASKS
- Development and compilation of project specifications.
- Review of client technical documentation and all relevant legislation, standards, specification, and code requirements.
- Participation in engineering man-hours estimation for metallurgical and welding activities.
- Compliance with internal technical standards and processes, raising comments and deviations when necessary.
- Definition and scheduling of metallurgical and welding deliverables in accordance with contract requirements.
- Providing assistance to engineering disciplines on subject matters.
- Ensuring quality and compliance of metallurgy, welding, and NDE requirements in equipment packages and bulk supplies.
- Interface with clients, subcontractors, and yards for resolution of metallurgy and welding issues.
- Conduct technical audits and evaluations of bulk material/equipment suppliers and subcontractors, including qualification programs.
- Review materials deliverables from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Provide technical advice on welding, fabrication, and metallurgical matters.
- Assist in material/equipment failure investigations and engineering assessments.
- Recommend actions to prevent, absorb, or minimize deviations from approved timelines and budgets.
- Collect project lessons learned for continuous improvement.
- Stay up to date with developments/tools for metallurgical and welding activities and initiate methodological improvements.
- 10 years of experience in metallurgy, welding, and NDE for FPSO, FSO, FLNG, and mooring systems during FEED, detailed engineering, and execution.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Metallurgy, Petroleum, Materials Science, or a related technical field from an accredited college or university.
- Certification from a materials-related professional association such as IWE, IOM3, or TWI is required.
- Principal knowledge of:
- International offshore industry design, materials, and fabrication codes & standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, API, ISO, NACE, ASTM, ABS, BV, DNV, LR) related to metallurgy, welding, and material selection for CS/LTCS and CRA materials.
- Functioning principles, fabrication technologies, and build characteristics of equipment used in offshore construction and process plants.
- Principles behind material selection for corrosion control, common corrosion challenges and failure mechanisms, CP systems (ICCP and SACCP), painting, lining, insulation, and fireproofing is a plus.
- International offshore industry design, materials, and fabrication codes & standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, API, ISO, NACE, ASTM, ABS, BV, DNV, LR) related to metallurgy, welding, and material selection for CS/LTCS and CRA materials.
- Good communication skills, sense of ownership, and initiative.
- Team player who delivers in a multicultural environment and is willing to share knowledge, standardize, and simplify.
- Capable of multitasking using design thinking principles and managing multiple projects efficiently.
- Proactive and self-motivated with a focus on delivering expected results in the most efficient way.
- Office presence required several days per week.
- Willingness to travel to yards, fabrication sites, and vendor premises worldwide for business trips.
- Ability to manage several activities in parallel with flexibility, strong analytical, and organizational skills.
- Excellent level of English, both written and spoken.
