My client is seeking an SPI User for their SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) group in Long Beach, California. However, this role can also be 100% remote.

The SPI user classification is specific to individuals with basic knowledge of SPI and a working knowledge of Instrumentation/Control Systems standards and practices.

EDUCATION:
High School Degree or Equivalent
Associate degree in applied sciences in Engineering or Design preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
The following are considered the main roles and responsibilities of SPI Super User I/II for:
o Understanding of P&IDs, complex wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, complex Loop
drawings, specification sheets, installation details (hookups); and their implementation in SPI
o Working knowledge and experience with SPI Engineering and Design Modules
o Understanding of various control system platforms: DCS, PLC, Triconex, etc.
o Strong understanding of I/O types: AI, AO, DI, DO, etc.
o Strong understanding of Instrument Indexes and I/O lists
o Practical experience with Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and CAD applications
o Minimum of 2+ years of industry experience with SPI modules (Engineering and Design)
o An SPI User will have the following SPI capabilities:
o Manipulation of IO assignment and Control System Tags using all provided SPI functions
(Excluding SQL and Import Utility)
o Cross-wiring functions
o Understanding of ESL layouts and proper macro, redlining, and smart text implementation
o Basic understanding of General signals for Power, MUX, etc.
o Understanding of Local signals and their implementation
o Creation of advanced apparatus groups: Relays, Isolators, Analyzers, etc.
o Performing comparisons between revisions and retrieving revision data for SPI documents
o Basic understanding of Engineering Data Editor (EDE) Browser Views, Filters, and Sorts
o Strong understanding of SPI preferences and their impacts on SPI functions
o Basic knowledge with the creation of Foundation Fieldbus instruments, segments, IO
association, multi-input devices, and drawings
