Responsibilities

Policies and Procedures
  • Ensure all company Drilling and Completions Policies and Procedures are implemented in order to comply with company Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure all documentation for drilling approval is prepared and submitted and that drilling approval obtained.
  • Planning and executing all aspects of the drilling, initial completion programs (with coordination with well services team).
  • Ensure the health and safety of all operational personnel, and protection of the environment.
  • Develop schedule and coordinate all drilling resources for agreed activities.
  • Adherence to corporate drilling and well integrity standards.
  • Drilling Operations
  • Ensure the operations are conducted in the best interest of the Company.
  • Discusses future operations plans with the Drilling operation team and the Drilling Engineering team to optimize and eliminate problems.
  • Continuously monitor the actual operations against the operational plan and cost reports to ensure optimal performance and maximize the cost-effectiveness of the operations as well as minimize any non-productive time.
  • Provide guidance and steer to resolve onsite difficult and unusual problems in order to minimize delay in the operations.
  • Reviews planned work activity; assist in program development & direct execution.
  • Develops & manages the processes & technical requirements to ensure well integrity is maintained during the operational phase.
  • Participate in morning calls and review reports from the drilling rig(s) and follow up to ensure smooth drilling operations.
  • Provide advices of well site operations status daily.
  • Liaison with other relevant if changing well conditions and problems.
  • Support local talents development plans.
  • Monitors and influence performance of numerous Contractor personnel and equipment.
  • Manage cost control within limits of authority.
  • Seek continues improvement in safety, cost, process, operations and people development.
  • Comply with corporate Ethics and Compliance Standards and policies.
  • Perform periodic evaluations for the Drilling Supervisors, Drilling Engineers and Well Completion & Well Services Engineers.
  • Review equipment planning with Drilling Engineer, Drilling Supervisors and Well Completion & Well Services Engineers to ensure timely equipment arrivals and minimize surplus equipment at the end of the project.
  • Ensure wells are drilled and completed in a safe manner that meets the well objectives and in accordance with the Well Integrity standards.

Drilling Engineering
  • Knowledge with ability on casing design, drilling fluids, cementation, bit selection, BHA design, hydraulics, wellhead design.
  • Proficient at producing and proof-reading drilling programs.
  • Familiarization with the latest international standards relevant to well construction and well integrity, for example, API, OGUK, iOGP, ISO, NORSOK etc.
  • Liaises with subsurface, exploration and production teams, provide expert advice on optimum well construction concepts to efficiently achieve subsurface objectives and business unit goals.

Qualifications
Knowledge and Experience
  • Minimum Engineering Degree, preferably Mechanical or Petroleum with a good understanding of Drilling technology and upstream processes.
  • Over 18 years in oil and gas industry with a minimum of 15 years drilling experience including offshore deepwater projects and preferably in Indonesia.
  • Strong drilling engineering background with primary focus on well design and well construction operations.
  • Previous experience as rig site drilling supervisory role is an advantage.
  • Update on new technology, models and equipment.
  • Experience in building a safety culture and working with Asset Teams.
