Team Leader – Environment and Communication Management (SOM-COM)
Lead the dialogue between energy infrastructure and society.
About the Role
The energy transition demands reliable, future-proof infrastructure. As Team Leader for the Environment and Communication Management team (SOM-COM) within the Spatial Planning and Law department, you will lead a team of environmental managers and project communication specialists who play a critical role in securing locations for new or expanded high-voltage substations. You’ll ensure this work is conducted with strong public participation, in alignment with the Environment and Planning Act.

What You’ll Do
- Oversee a multidisciplinary team responsible for communication and stakeholder engagement during location studies and environmental planning.
- Ensure proper communication support during formal municipal procedures and public participation processes.
- Work closely with the Head of Spatial Planning and Law to deploy the right people with the right skills to the right projects.
- Navigate complex assignments involving multiple stakeholders with diverse and sometimes conflicting interests.
- Provide leadership to the SOM-COM team and foster a positive, motivating team environment.
- Support and guide team members in their professional development.
- Strategically plan environmental and communication efforts to facilitate site acquisition for critical energy infrastructure.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to align project goals with community interests and regulatory requirements.
- Safeguard the integration of communication strategies into spatial and procedural planning.
- A completed HBO or WO degree in a relevant field (e.g. spatial planning, environmental science, communication, or public administration).
- Proven experience in a leadership role, ideally within the public or infrastructure sector.
- Excellent communication skills and a high level of environmental and political sensitivity.
- Strong organizational and strategic planning abilities.
- Experience with environmental management and stakeholder engagement in complex or politically sensitive environments is a strong advantage.
