Major Duties
As a Technical Nuclear Applications Engineer, you will create and develop innovative concepts for nuclear applications and detailed proposals for potential customers. You will collaborate with a proposal development team and perform a wide range of mechanical and electrical engineering functions in support of technical project planning. Your focus will be on detailed project planning, including conceptual development, costing, scheduling, risk assessment, and writing detailed technical proposals.

Major Duties
As a Technical Nuclear Applications Engineer, you will create and develop innovative concepts for nuclear applications and detailed proposals for potential customers. You will collaborate with a proposal development team and perform a wide range of mechanical and electrical engineering functions in support of technical project planning. Your focus will be on detailed project planning, including conceptual development, costing, scheduling, risk assessment, and writing detailed technical proposals.
Specific Responsibilities
- Write detailed technical proposals for all types of nuclear applications.
- Assist engineers and technical staff in the design and development of products, systems, processes, and equipment by analyzing technical problems and aligning with customer specifications.
- Integrate third-party vendors and suppliers into projects as needed.
- Stay up to date with the latest technology and innovations in the industry.
- Use CAD, simulation tools, spreadsheets, and project management software to create detailed proposals.
- Define scope and deliverables clearly and communicate concisely with both the project team and the customer.
- Prepare detailed estimates of time, quantities, labor, and material costs across all work areas.
- Travel to customer sites for project/product development in alignment with design specifications and objectives.
- Collaborate with Sales to create and deliver presentations to potential clients.
- Support special projects in engineering and sales/marketing as required.
- Conduct small conceptual studies prior to formal project initiation.
- Support the quality system by maintaining QA procedures and participating in audits.
- Promote a team-oriented environment across departments and business units.
- Act as the technical liaison during the pre-order process in coordination with Sales.
- Ensure complete, accurate solution development and presentation in response to RFQs or account strategy.
- Write, edit, and revise proposals in clear and concise technical language.
- Ensure proposal delivery meets customer deadlines via the most efficient route.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement supporting procedures and programs.
- Perform all activities with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Code of Business Conduct.
- Follow all health and safety rules and procedures.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Systems, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Design, or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical or electrical engineering support, preferably in a nuclear automation environment.
- Knowledge of robotics, machine controls, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets, AutoCAD, SolidWorks or equivalent design software.
- Strong ability to present ideas, concepts, and pricing clearly to technical audiences.
- Understanding of welding and machining processes.
