NES Global Talent is helping Japanese company IHI make a major push into the US engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) market.

IHI E&C, a US subsidiary of IHI, expanded its presence in the US market last year by purchasing Kvaerner’s EPC business in Houston.

Technical manpower provider NES Global Talent has been appointed by IHI E&C to help with its recruitment drive as the company starts work on number of new projects.

One of the new projects involves IHI E&C, together with Kiewit Energy Company, entering into an EPC contract to develop the Cove Point liquefied natural gas facility in Chesapeake Bay, Lusby, Maryland. The venture involves the design and construction of an estimated 5.25 million tonnes per annum liquefaction facility, with an expected completion date of 2017

Carolyn Stewart, Business Development Manager at NES Global Talent, said: “Our global network of offices has been opened strategically within oil and gas hubs such as Houston to mirror the geographical footprint of our key clients, meaning we can deliver the challenging staffing projects that others cannot. Over the coming months, we will be hiring a host of expert talent including engineers, project managers and commissioning and design professionals on behalf of IHI E&C, allowing the business to forge ahead with its US growth plans.

“Houston remains the nerve centre for global oil and gas industry project development. There are lots of exciting projects underway, domestic and international, with more in the pipeline and we are looking forward to working closely with IHI E&C, ensuring they have access to the very best talent in the industry and are able to make the most of every opportunity.”

NES Global Talent is dedicating a five-strong team to the project, with two of the company’s consultants based fulltime at IHI E&C offices.

Carolyn said: “We all work hard at NES Global Talent to put clients and candidates at the heart of everything we do. We offer a spectrum of client support services ranging from payroll through to a recruitment process outsourcing service as well as support to our contractors including global healthcare insurance, visas, security and travel and mobilisation support, and it’s this people-centric approach that sets us apart.”
